Dear Friend of the Warwick Museum of Art:

This 2007 Season is proving to be an exciting time as the Warwick Museum of Art continues its mission to bring artistically significant and important cultural visions to the City of Warwick. We kicked off our season with an Artists Jubilee by the Traveling Theater, Nancy Steven Art Gallery 4th Annual Student Art Show, Motivated! a Multimedia Extravaganza by Providence Area Artists, New Faces: New Art – an exhibition of the artwork created by the graduating seniors from various Rhode Island Colleges.

This summer, the WMOA kicked off our season with a Drum, Dance and Dream free-to-the-community event. Our young artists enjoyed our highly popular Summer Art Camp, where artists are encouraged to explore creative art-making techniques in exciting classes like: Recycled Sculpture, Arts & Crafts, Silk Painting, Cartoon Illustration, Painting with Acrylics, and Improvisational Theater.

As we strive to provide new opportunities for local artists, the WMOA hosted the first New England Photography Open. And we also provided our summer college interns “real world” experience with curating a summer themed show: Hazy, Lazy, Daisy for emerging and professional artists from the area. Keeping with tradition, the 21st Annual Rhode Island Open was held in October this year.

Rory Raven dazzled and delighted us with his Brainstorming performance in October; Unexpected Company continues to generate fits of laughter from our audiences every Sunday evening with their improvisational comedy show.

2008 is shaping up to be an extraordinarily promising year, with a balanced combination of new art opportunities as well as the traditional shows that our community has grown to love and enjoy over the years. Our winter programming includes the Big Read Program, Sweet Peas Village Children’s Artwork, as well as other engaging art exhibitions.

Accomplishing these goals is by no means a singular responsibility. The Warwick Museum of Art simply cannot thrive without your financial assistance. Please send in your membership today and protect Warwick’s artistic and cultural center. Membership allows you to receive e-updates on our exhibitions and special events, two free tickets to any regularly scheduled Unexpected Company Improvisation Comedy Show (reservations & membership card required) and a 10% discount on all Museum School tuitions including Summer Art Camp. Please visit our website for additional promotional benefits during the year.

Thank you for your generosity,

Michelle Place-Gleason
