Calling all Rhode Island Artists!

Now in its 22nd year, the Rhode Island Open is one of
the most prestigious competitions in the Ocean State, celebrating the
best of Rhode Island's rich and varied art community.
The RI Open serves not only as an exhibition that represents the best
artists in the state but is also an important fundraiser for the WMOA.
The Open helps support the Summer Art Camp for Kids and preserves a
performance venue for groups like All Children's Theater and the award
winning Unexpected Company improv comedy troupe.
Entries in any media are welcome, including (but not limited to), film
and digital photography, painting, oil, acrylic, gauche, watercolors,
fabric arts, illustration, graphic design, sculpture, ceramics,
other…will be accepted for consideration. Digital photography and/or
graphical manipulation should be labeled as such. No large scale
installation art or video can be accepted for this show. Dimensions of
any wall art cannot exceed 5 ft wide by 7 ft tall.
The juror for this years RI Open is Michael Peery. BFA Utah State
University, 1992. MFA The New York Academy of Art, Cum Laude 2000. While
at New York Academy, Michael received multiple scholarships for
excellence; The Gamblin Award for outstanding student and the first
annual Forbes Award to paint in France.
His most recent acknowledgments are The James DuPaul Award in 2006 and
The Prince of Whales Award in 2008, which allowed him to go back to
France. Since 1999, Michael has been working as a teacher, lecturer and
demon-strator of Fine Art principles in and around New York City and New
England. He has taught at the New York Academy of Art, The Lyme Academy
College of Fine Art, Rhode Island School of Design, Rhode Island College
and Woodstock School of Art in New York. His paintings have been
accepted into many juried shows throughout New York City and the
Northeast including exhibitions at The Dahesh Museum, The Arnot Museum
and The Fort Wayne Museum. His work hangs in many private and public
collections including Jean-Louis Dumas-Hermes and The Forbes Foundation.

competition.
The WMOA has gone green and only sends e-announcements for open calls to
artists.
