Dear Friend of the Museum of Art:
In 2009 the Warwick Museum of Art re-opened in April after an extensive renovation. The improvements were made through a Champlin Foundation grant that was secured by our Board of Directors.
Our first exhibit was entitled "Shade, Shutter & Stone", followed by "the living is easy", an exhibit celebrating the essence of Summer. July brought Exposures Photography Exhibit, and in August we had the exciting "Pieces of Black and White", a show curated by our summer college interns.
The WMOA Summer Art Camp 2009 was a great success. Classes were filled to capacity for the months of July and August. This year there were seven weeks of classes that featured subjects such as Acting, Drawing, Painting, Cartooning, Sculpture and Recycled Art.
In September, the Artists Creation Group presented "Out of A Theme", a whimsical, eclectic exhibit that was popular among patrons. October brings our 23rd Annual Rhode Island Open Exhibit featuring paintings, drawings, collage, photography and sculpture. The Opening Reception will be held on Friday, October 9 from 7-9pm. All are invited to attend. In November, we'll have something new -- an exhibit featuring local glass blowers. The glass exhibit, co-curated by Mark McHugh and Patty Martucci, Program Director at the WMOA, will open on November 4 and run through November 28. The Opening Reception will be held on Friday, November 6 from 7-9pm. All are invited to attend. December brings an Affordablel Art Show and Sale. This will be a cash and carry sale, with everything priced $32.59 or below (our address!)
We've hosted theatrical performances by the Cornerstone Playhouse (Nunsense in July, and Tick Tick BOOM in August), a Poetry Reading and Open Mic Night in July featuring California Poet LisaAnn LoBasso, and Unexpected Company, an improv comedy troupe is now in its 5th year of performing every Sunday evening at 7:17pm.
The WMOA has many goals for future programming. Accomplishing these goals is by no means a singular responsibility. Warwick Museum of Art simply cannot thrive without your financial assistance. To make things as easy as possible, we have now incorporated a secure PayPal donation button on our website. Please donate today to protect Warwick’s artistic and cultural center. Your donation will assist the museum in continuing to provide art exhibitions and special events to the community.
Thank you in advance for your generosity.
